Not So Desperate Housewife

I want to talk about an under-appreciated shopping form. We all know about thrifting. It's become such a trend, but there is another way to find vintage clothes for cheap! It does require a bit of work, but I promise you it's worth it. Ever since I was a child, I loved yard sales. I mean, come on, what kid doesn't like a bunch of people's old junk?! My mom would take me every Saturday morning early and we'd collect a bunch of magical treasures. The most magical thing about yard sale-ing is that everything is dirt cheap.
Now, this Summer, my mother and I picked up that old habit. We've had conversations trying to figure out why the hell we would have ever stopped doing it in the first place! Anyway, I discovered, yard sales are also a gold mine for clothes!! I've found some of my favorite pieces at yard sales. All costing me under $2, at the most. How can you beat that?
The secret to good yard sale-ing is always getting out of the car, even if it looks like a bunch of crap in the drive way, you can't see everything and you've gotta dig around a bit. Another secret is waking up early. Some people are out there doing their thing by 5 AM! You've gotta keep up.
So here are a couple things I've found from yard sales that I love.

I found those Doc Marten's for 5 bucks. They're a little beat up, but they've been keeping me satisfied while I wait to get new ones.

Now here is my look for today consisting mostly of...you guessed it! Yard sale clothes.

Tank and shorts: Yard sale
Velvet Platorms: Urban Outfitters
Headband: DIY
Watch: Vintage from my Grandma

I hope I was able to teach you all a valuable lesson about yard sale-ing. Now go and do, yo.
